Dr Will Beacham

Senior Partner

MBBS (Kings 1997)
Dr Beacham, the senior partner at the practice, joined Swallowfield in 2002. He has special interests in the care of the elderly and minor surgery. He is the Chair of the Berkshire West medicines management committee and primary care lead for Wokingham CCG. He is also a clinical director for the Wokingham South Primary Care Network (PCN).

Dr Raju Prabhakar

MBBS MRCP (Madras 1991)
Dr Prabhakar came to Swallowfield in 2004. He has special interests in cardiology and care of the elderly.

Dr Lucy Dugmore

GP Partner

BM BCh MRCGP DRCOG (Oxon 2008)
Dr Dugmore joined the practice in 2014. She works full time and has a special interest in palliative care. She is also a clinical director for the Wokingham South primary care network (PCN).

Dr Deborah Milligan

Dr Milligan initially joined us in September 2018 as a part-time salaried GP. She became the fourth partner GP in the spring of 2022 and currently works full time. She has a special interest in emergency and palliative care and is also the NHS locality lead for Wokingham. 

Dr Victoria Bates

Dr Bates joined us in June 2020 from Hampshire as a full-time salaried GP. She became the fifth partner GP in the spring of 2024. Her special interests are medical education and general medicine. She is a GP trainer.

Dr Claire Whittaker

Dr Whittaker joined Swallowfield in June 2022 as a part-time salaried GP. She qualified from Cardiff University in 2012 and completed her GP training in Reading in 2018. 

Dr Himal Gurung

Dr Gurung joined the practice in August 2023 as a salaried GP. Since December 2023 he is now working full time. He qualified from Kathmandu University, Nepal Medical College, in 2014 and completed his GP training in Dorset in 2023.

Dr Graham joined the practice in December 2025 as a part-time salaried GP. She qualified from Oxford University in 2014 and completed her GP training at the Royal Free Hospital in London in 2025.

The nursing team deals with a range of conditions and health concerns and are experts in many areas of disease management including asthma, COPD, diabetes and hypertension.

Our phlebotomists, or HCAs, hold clinics each morning for patients needing blood tests.

Healthcare Team

Non-urgent advice: Community Midwives

The midwife holds ante-natal clinics and parentcraft classes. She visits you at home after you have had your baby. She holds a weekly clinic at the Swallowfield surgery and works closely with the doctors and the obstetric department at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. The midwifery service manage all of their own bookings and unfortunately we are no longer able to book these for you. The midwives can be contacted on 0118 322 8059. Your midwife will provide you with further contact information during your first booking appointment.

Non-urgent advice: Community Nurses

District nurses that cover the Swallowfield surgery area are now based at Chalfont Surgery. This team provides comprehensive nursing care to the housebound and offers support, advice and education to patients and their carers. They also provide palliative care which, whenever possible, will help patients to remain at home if they wish. To contact the district nurses you can telephone 0118 949 5083.

Non-urgent advice: Health Visitors

The health visitors who are attached to the practice are part of the Wokingham health visitor team based at Wokingham Hospital. They are nurses who specialise in health promotion and the prevention of illness. In particular, they give help, advice and support relating to the health of children and their families.

Non-urgent advice: Reception

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.

Non-urgent advice: Administration Staff

We have 2 clinical administrators who handle all our recalls for your long-term conditions and routine vaccinations.

The other administration staff are responsible for managing the documentation that comes into and goes out of the practice.

Non-urgent advice: Medical Secretaries

The secretaries assist the GP’s in ensuring all referrals are sent in a timely manner. As well as being the practice secretaries they also assist the surgery team and patients in liaising with local hospitals and services.

Simon Davies carries out structured medication reviews working with specific long-term conditions such as hypertension and diabetes.

PCN Social Prescriber

Amanda connects people with non-medical support, such as day centres, charities or community groups, in the community to improve their wellbeing and tackle social isolation.

Debbie Dew

PCN Mental Health Practitioner

Debbie provides specialist advice and support to patients presenting with mental health issues providing them with advice, intervention and treatment as required.

PCN Data Care Co-ordinator

Steph plays an important role in pro-actively managing the GP and PCN enhanced service contracts to ensure we are meeting all the contractual clinical requirements across the network and achieving the required targets on an annual basis.
